Greensboro, N.C. – Two additional Guilford County Schools students were selected for National Merit Scholarships, bringing the district’s total this year to six. The final round of college-sponsored scholarships was announced this week.

The latest GCS student winners are:

  • Maya Mather, Early College at Guilford. Maya will attend Texas A&M University to study mechanical engineering.

  • Camryn Stone, Weaver Academy. Camryn plans to study theater at Boston University.

In September, 17 GCS students were named as National Merit Scholar semi-finalists.

Two GCS students were announced in May as winners of $2,500 scholarships from the National Merit Corporation, and two more students were announced as college-sponsored scholars in June.

This final group of winners brings the number of 2026 National Merit Scholars to about 6,500. These distinguished high school graduates will receive scholarships for undergraduate study worth a total of nearly $24 million.
